Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For these houses, I was that beholder. Where others saw demise and blight, I saw a wonderful house enriched in history and full of handcrafted detail. For the houses that were ultimately sold, I placed deed restrictions, which ensures that these houses will be around for another hundred years. Owners may not tear them down, chop them up into multi-family homes or leave them to again become sad houses.
